Shopify web development

A Shopify store that sells more of what you already stock.

We design and build fast, conversion-focused Shopify and Shopify Plus stores. You get more orders from the traffic you already pay for, lower running costs, and a store your team can update without waiting on a developer.

The short answerOn Digital builds custom Shopify and Shopify Plus themes for UK ecommerce brands. Every build ships with Core Web Vitals passing, analytics and server-side tracking live, and templates your team can edit in the Shopify theme editor.

What you get

What a new store gives you.

Everything below comes as standard. No surprise extras at the end.

01

More orders from the same traffic

Every layout is built from your analytics and heatmaps, so we remove the friction that stops people buying.

02

Pages that load in a blink

Speed targets are written into the brief and tested before launch, so fewer visitors give up before the page appears.

03

Freedom to change things yourself

Flexible Shopify sections let your team launch pages and campaigns without a developer or a ticket queue.

04

Proof of what the new store earns

Tracking and a single revenue view go live on day one, so you can see the payback instead of guessing.

05

Rankings you keep

Redirects, clean URLs and structured data are handled before launch, so a new store never costs you search traffic.

06

Lower monthly bills

We replace overlapping apps with native features and clean code, cutting subscriptions and speeding up the site.

What we fix

What holds most stores back.

A new theme is not a growth plan. These are the three reasons builds fail to move revenue.

  1. Built for the pitch, not the customer. Pages get approved on how they look in a deck, then nobody checks what they do to conversion on a phone.
  2. Apps bolted on until it crawls. Every feature becomes another app script. Twelve months later the store is slow and nobody knows which app to remove.
  3. No way to prove it worked. Tracking is an afterthought, so the new store cannot be compared to the old one and the board never sees the payback.
Why it pays off

What a better store is worth.

A faster, clearer store lifts conversion across every channel at once. Paid media, email and search all perform better when the store they send people to does its job.

  • A higher return on every pound of ad spend
  • Fewer apps and lower running costs
  • Campaigns live in days, not weeks
  • A solid foundation for SEO and AI search
How it works

From brief to launch in four stages.

Weeks 1 to 2

Discovery and data

We review analytics, heatmaps and competitors, then agree the numbers the build must move.

Weeks 2 to 4

UX and design

Wireframes first, then high-fidelity design for mobile and desktop, signed off page by page.

Weeks 4 to 9

Build and QA

Theme development, integrations and data migration, tested across devices and browsers.

Launch

Go live and measure

Out-of-hours launch, redirects live, and a 30 day report on what changed.

Still deciding?

The questions brands ask us most before getting started.

How much does a Shopify website cost in the UK?

Cost depends on the number of templates, integrations, data migration and whether you are on Shopify Plus. Customising a well-built theme costs far less than a fully custom build. You get a fixed quote after a short discovery, before any commitment.

How long does a Shopify build take?

A custom build typically takes around two to three months from discovery to launch. Smaller theme projects can go live much sooner. We agree the timeline in writing before work starts.

Do you use pre-built themes or build custom?

Both. If a well-built theme does 90% of what you need, we will tell you and customise it. If your range, content or B2B needs are more complex, a custom theme usually pays back.

Should we go headless with Shopify Hydrogen?

Only if you have a clear reason, like a complex content model or multiple storefronts. Most brands get more from a fast Online Store 2.0 theme and better merchandising, at a fraction of the running cost.
